Virginia Estella Puckett

Virginia Estella Puckett, 86, of Royalton Township, passed away on Tues., July 16, 2013 in Sturgis, MI at the Thurston Woods Villages. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI. Virginia was born on May 15, 1927 in Iuka, MS to Robert and Adelle (Booker) Farris. On Dec. 14, 1946 in Benton Harbor, MI she married James Puckett; he preceded her in death in 2002. Virginia had been a sales clerk for various local grocery stores, including National Food Store, Hardings and Hilltop from where she retired in 1982. Franklin Ave., Sturgis, MI 49091 Virginia is survived by three sons, Larry (Marian) Puckett of DePere, WI, Michael (Diane) Puckett of St. Charles, IL and Jack (Renee) Puckett of Orland Park, IL; a daughter, Barbara Radtke of Sturgis, MI; eight grandchildren, Sallie (Kurt) Petty, Jenny (Garrett) Dickinson, Kara (Greg) Williams, Robbie (Brianne) Radtke, Stephanie and Kristine Puckett, and Corey and Meghan Puckett; four great grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul (Dorothy) Farris of Dunedin, FL and Howard Farris of Grand Rapids, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents-Robert and Adelle Farris, brothers-Robert ‘Red’ Farris and Delbert Farris, and sisters-Ruth Mays and Lois Farris. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Thurs., Aug. 1, 11:30 AM, at the Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085, with Rev. Robert Confer officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery. Visitation is on Weds., July 31, at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM.
