Dee Ingwersen

On April 17, 2013 Jesus extended His hand to Dee and graciously carried her to heaven. Dee was born in 1934 in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1952. After attending Davis Business College, she was employed by Owens-Corning Fiberglass where she met her husband, Harmon Ingwersen. They were married in June of 1958. In 1967, they and their 2 children moved to Stevensville, MI. While the children attended Christ Lutheran School, Dee was the school secretary there (as a volunteer) for 9 years. She loved knitting, tennis, bike riding, Bible Study Fellowship, entertaining, organizing, and traveling. In 1980 the family moved to Naperville, IL for 18 months before moving to Fairfield, CT for 10 years. They returned to St. Joseph in 1993. She rejoined tennis groups, volunteering, and became and avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. She continued collecting tea cups, paper weights, mugs, Precious Moments and African violets. After being diagnosed with MS in 2005, her life changed dramatically. Suddenly the computer and watching sports on TV became her interests. Dee is survived by her husband Harmon, daughter Karen, son Kevin, daughter-in-law Sally, grandsons Matthew and Bryan, and brother Frank II. She was proceeded in death by daughter Debra Lynn Ingwersen in 1961, father Frank Lau in 1952, mother Grace Lau in 1961, and her 7 ‘best friends’, King, Clever Star, Clever, Jamie, Brandi, Teddi Bare and Andi. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, with Rev. Martin Measel officiating. Friends may visit from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
