Helmut Mueller

Helmut J. Mueller, 91, of Stevensville, went to meet his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, May 04, 2013 at his home. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Washington Ave. Church of God, 4051 Washington Ave., St. Joseph with Rev. Andy Hannich officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may visit from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Washington Ave. Church of God Missions. Those wishing to sign Helmut’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Helmut was born April 24, 1922 in Essen, Germany to Wilhelm & Lydia (Janke) Mueller. On February 4, 1950, he married the former Frieda Lenk in Essen, Germany. In 1951 the family moved to the United States settling in Benton Harbor. Helmut was an expert carpenter & cabinet maker, and in 1964 opened Lakeshore Wood Craft in Stevensville, which he owned & operated until his retirement in 1991. Helmut was a man of God and a member of Washington Ave. Church of God where he sang in the choir and served on the board of trustees and as a Sunday School teacher. He completed several mission building trips to Brazil & Guatemala, and enjoyed winters in Northport, Florida. Helmut enjoyed reading, spending time with his family & many friends, and helping others with projects around the house. Helmut is survived by his wife Frieda; his son Gilbert (Linda) Mueller of St. Joseph; his daughter Karin (Rodney) Moore of Stevensville; his daughter-in-law Karen Mueller of Highland, CA; four grandchildren-Steven (Kristi) Mueller, Susan (Dustin) White, Anita (Joseph) Loomis, & Christopher Mueller; two great-grandchildren-Samantha & Joshua; three brothers-Willi (Otti) Mueller of Venice, FL, Erich (Ruth) Mueller of Harbor Springs, MI, Horst (Edeltraut) Mueller of Englewood, FL; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Hartwig Mueller on March 16, 2012, his son-in-law Rene Mueller on October 16, 2002, his brother Kurt Mueller and his sister Inge Mueller.
