William “Bill” Spitzer, 63, of Baroda, passed away, Sunday, April 07, 2013 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda, with military rites conducted by Stevensville American Legion Post #568. Friends may visit from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. Bill was born March 11, 1950 in Berrien Center to Max & Elsie (Marske) Spitzer. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1968. Bill served his country in the United States Army from 1971 until 1974. On October 2, 1993, he married the former Jill Zavoral Ward in Stevensville. He was employed at Whirlpool Corporation for thirty years as a model maker, retiring in April, 2012. Bill was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and a member of Stevensville American Legion Post #568. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, NASCAR, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife Jill; his children-Tracy (Steve) Schroeder, Tammy Spitzer, Nila (Tod) Rainey, Brian (Mylissa) Ward, Brad Ward, Dustin Spitzer; ten grandchildren-Devin Ward, Jordon Hopson, Brandon & Will Schroeder, Griffin Spitzer, Brianna & Josh Gorske, Kalob, Courtney & Katie Rainey; his brother Ralph Spitzer; numerous nieces & nephews; and his beloved pet Oscar. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Aedra Stahl.
