James “Jim” Morgan, 87, of Benton Harbor passed away Wednesday April 24, 2013 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be Saturday 1 P.M with Military Rites performed by North Berrien County to follow, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph, MI, with Rev. Ronald Schmidt officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morgan family. Jim was born June 15, 1925 in Gooding, Idaho to Aldon & Amy Hannah (Edwards) Morgan. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, and was in the U.S Coast Guard from 1947 to 1950. Jim was also a life member of the V.F.W Post # 1137, and the D.A.V. On February 7, 1948 he married Margaret Karls, they were together 65 years. Together they raised five children. Jim worked as a truck driver most of his life, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Jim enjoyed reading western stories, watching westerns on T.V, and loved doing word search puzzles.
Jim is survived by his five children, Carol (Joe) Welton of Hastings, MI; Cheryl “Cherie” Morgan of Benton Harbor; Ken (Karen) Morgan of Sodus, Art Morgan of Romulus, MI, and Don (Shelley) Morgan of Lynchburg, VA, seven grandchildren, Bobbie Lynn (Ed) Roman, Sean (Chelsea) Jozwiak, Alan (Jami) Przybylinski, Jeff (Missy) Przybylinski, Derek (Rosalinda Mejia) Morgan, Cameron Morgan, Stan (Cortney) Modelewski, thirteen grandchildren, and two canine companions Bear & Spice.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, “Marg” on April 10, 2013, his parents, four sisters, and five brothers. The family appreciated the doctors, nurses, and Christine the Chaplin for the care given at Rush University Medical Center.
