Warren's Obituary

Warren “Bud” Martin, 89, of St. Joseph passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 1, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Harris Hoekwater officiating. An inurnment will be held at Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Those wishing to share a memory of Bud online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Bud was born March 17, 1924, in Bainbridge Township to Emil and Carrie (Hafer) Martin. He attended Benton Harbor High School graduating with the class of 1941. Bud proudly served his country in the US Air Force earning the rank of Sergeant. He married Leona Scherer in 1944 and together they raised two children, Wayne and Marcia. Bud was employed by Whirlpool Corporation for 38 1/2 years, working mostly in engineering and retiring as supervisor of the model shop. After his wife Leona passed away in 1978, Bud married Margaret Hutchinson in 1981, she preceded him in death in 1998. He was involved with many committees, his favorite being Whirlpool Old Timers. Bud was a life member of BPOE (Elks) #541 as well as the F.O.P. #96; he was also a member of the Stevensville American Legion #568, First United Methodist Church and Golden Eagles. Bud is survived by his son Wayne’s family grandchildren Doreen (Dave) Hatcher, Michael and Matthew Martin; great grandchildren Amber Hatcher (Sam Dicus-Ellis), Ashli (David) Santana; great great grandchildren Kelli and Emma Santana. His daughter Marcia Martin and her family, Debbie Rowlee, grandchildren Rachael Rowlee and Chris (Jodie) Rowlee; and great grandchildren Alivia Teague and Dylan Rowlee; and his special friend Alice Main. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Leona in 1978, wife Margaret in 1998, son Wayne in 2003, stepdaughter Laurie in 1984 and brother Robert Martin in 1978.
