John A. Lindenfeld, 80, of St. Joseph passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel with Fr. Dan Scheid officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. John was born July 8, 1932 in Benton Harbor, MI to Bela & Esther (Carter) Lindenfeld. John graduated from St. Joseph High School and earned a degree in engineering from Michigan State University in 1954. John served his country in the United States Army Reserves for 28 years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. John also worked for Bendix in St. Joseph, Clark Equipment in Buchanan, John Deere in Dubuque, IA, and Ridge Tool in Ohio. He was a member of good standing of the Elks and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, woodworking, & collecting.
John is survived by his companion of 23 years, Lois Stancik, daughters Beth Dawson of Kalamazoo, Jane (Ron) Ainley of Dubuque, IA and Kate (Mike) Salis of N. Olmsted, OH; son John William Lindenfeld of Brownsburg, IN; 7 grandchildren Matthew & Jacob Dawson, Brian Ainley, Carter & Jillian Salis and Mitchell & Jesse Lindenfeld; brothers Bela (Jean) Lindenfeld and Harris Lindenfeld; sister Catherine (Ron) Ravich; former wife Marjorie Hollensbe Lindenfeld; and John was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother Lyda Whitney Lindenfeld and daughter-in-law Kim Lindenfeld.
