David's Obituary

David “Dave” Walton, 52, of St. Joseph, passed away, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Rodney Neeley officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, with Prayers recited at 7:30 P.M. by Fr. William J. Dave was born December 22, 1960 in Galt, Ontario, Canada to Edwin & Myrtle (Brown) Walton. Dave played football in high school and participated in track, and was active in scouting, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Washington Nuclear Submarine. On August 9, 2008, he married the former Leann Bradley in St. Joseph. Dave was employed by American Electric Power at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant, beginning in 1991 as a QA Auditor. He was currently working as a Principle Coordinator of Emergency Preparedness. Dave enjoyed watching and cheering for his children at their sporting events, woodworking, carpentry & home remodeling, cooking, flower gardening, and sitting around the bon fire in the back yard. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Dave is survived by his wife Leann; his children-Marilyn Walton, Jake Walton, Lora Walton, Suzanne Walton; his step-children-Melissa (John) Mennito, Michelle Groenke, Jessica Groenke, Ashlee Edinger, Rachel Edinger; two step-grandchildren-Mikayla & Jacob Mennito; his brother Mark (Cathy) Walton; his sister Sue (Rodney) Neeley; nieces-Vanessa (Dylan), Rebecca (Ben), & Leanna; great nephews Aiden & Asher; Leann’s family-his mother-in-law Mary Bradley; brother & sister-in-laws-Pat (Robert) Donaldson, Jim (Zona) Bradley, Joan (Dennis) Bakken, Mike (Laura) Bradley; many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews; the mother of his children Amy Bond Walton; and a special friend Dixie Johnson.
