Dorsie L. Levay

Dorsie L. Levay, 87 of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Niles Avenue Baptist Church, 1301 Niles Ave., St. Joseph with Rev. Michael King officiating. Dorsie was born January 3, 1926 in Rome, GA to Frank & Flora (Black) Whitaker. On July 22, 1944 she married Frank Levay Jr. in El Paso, TX. Dorsie worked for Holly’s in South Haven and Modern Plastics. She later retired from Heath Company in Saint Joseph Mi. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading, bowling, fishing and traveling. Most of all she was a devoted mother and grandmother always caring for her family. Dorsie is survived by her sister Juanita Powell; sons Richard (Janet Marie) Levay, Ronald (Lynn) Levay and Robert (Kathi) Levay all of Grand Rapids, MI; daughters Joan (Bill) Adcox of Lexington, Okla. and Janet Weatherman of Stevensville, MI; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter. Dorsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Frank Levay Jr and great granddaughter Amani Githu.
