Roy Dahmer

Roy S. Dahmer of St. Joseph, MI passed away Wednesday, January 16th at The Whitcomb in St. Joseph, with his family by his side. He was 92. Roy was born May 2, 1920 in Kline, WV, to Charles S. & Mary (Greenawalt) Dahmer. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. On August 27, 1944 he married Marguerite K. Weese in Norfolk, VA. After working for General Motors designing rifle and machine gun barrels for WWII, Roy joined Eaton Corporation in 1952 as a design engineer. He remained with Eaton for 37 years holding numerous positions, including General Manager of the Fuller Transmission Division, Vice President of Truck Component Operations, and Vice President Eaton International. Roy was an active board member of multiple community organizations, and was especially honored to be the first Chairman of Junior Achievement in Kalamazoo, MI. Roy travelled all over the world for both business and pleasure, and enjoyed it most when he could include his passion for playing golf in his travels. Roy is survived by his daughter Ann Dahmer and son-in-law Kevin Geiser of St. Joseph; sister Hilda Smith of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-laws Janet Weese of Cocoa Beach, FL, and Jeanette (Browning) Sions of Cabins, WV; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his loving wife of 65 years Marguerite, parents Charles & Mary Dahmer, sister Leanna Ross and brother-in-law John “Jack” Weese. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A celebration of life service will immediately follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home of St. Joseph, MI or The First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach, FL.
