Arnold's Obituary

Arnold C. Klug, 87, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side, at 11:15 P.M., Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:30 A.M. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1773 W. Glendora Rd., Buchanan with Rev. Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will follow at Glendora Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church-Glendora, Hospice at Home or the Berrien County Youth Fair. Those wishing to sign Arnold’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks –menchinger.com. Arnold was born June 20, 1925 in Buchanan to August & Mary (Pintzke) Klug. On December 10, 1960, he married the former Mildred A. Steinke in Sodus. Arnold owned and operated the family dairy, grain & grape farm in Weesaw Township, where he was born and passed away. He worked through the 2012 harvest season. Arnold was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was active with the Berrien County Youth Fair in the Ag Expo Building, and a member of Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fixing things in the house and on the farm, which his wife will greatly miss. Arnold is survived by his wife Mildred; his son Brian (Vicky) Klug of Arlington, TX; his daughter Irene (Todd) Gerwig of Brooklyn, WI; five grandchildren-Neil & Neven Klug, Kelsey, Tyler & Carissa Gerwig; two step-grandchildren-Rizaldy & Ryan Lugto; and his brother Paul Klug of Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-Herman & Erwin Klug, his mother-in-law and his father-in-law Alice & Erich Steinke, and his son Darrel Klug on December 24, 2009.
