Mildred's Obituary

Mildred “Millie” Schultz, 98, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, January 08, 2013 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:30 A.M. Monday at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Dr., St. Joseph with Rev. Eric Thorsen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 10:30 until 11:30 A.M. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Zion Ev. UCC or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to sign Millie’s Memory Book online may do so at starks-menchinger.com. Millie was born June 2, 1914 in Coloma to Adam & Minnie (Palmer) Briney. She was crowned Miss Coloma in 1932 and graduated from Coloma High School in 1933. On June 20, 1936, she married Clarence “Mike” Schultz in St. Joseph. Millie devoted her life to taking care of her family. She was a member of Zion Ev. UCC in St. Joseph where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship Group. She enjoyed perch fishing on Lake Michigan, tending to her home, yard, & flower gardens, cooking for her family & friends, and was always tending to the needs of others. In May of 2012, Millie participated in the Senior Expo and the Blossomtime Fashion Show at the Orchard’s Mall, where she was honored as a former Blossomtime Queen and she raised the most money for Zion Church Relay for Life and the Blossomtime Scholarship Fund. Millie is survived by her son Larry (Judy) Schultz of Stevensville; four grandchildren-Lori (Chad) Deja of Stevensville, Julie (Pete) Warner of Smyrna, GA, Mike (Corrie) Weber of Jenison, MI, Alison (Rich) Stachurski of Stevensville; nine great-grandchildren-Wes, Audrey & Nolan Deja, Jason & Sarah Warner, Brandon & Abby Weber, Caitlin & Tanner Stachurski; her brother Don Briney of St. Joseph; nieces & nephews-Linda (Ken) Weber, Sue (Ed) Holda, Deanna Driscoll, Debra Schultz, Tom (Theresa) Schultz & John (Eileen) Schultz. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Mike” Schultz on April 28, 1984.
