Grace B. Newman

Grace B. Newman, 87, of Stevensville, MI passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Reverend Dr. Robert Braman officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Those wishing to share a memory of Grace may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. Grace was born May 31, 1925 in Ann Arbor, MI to Paul E. & Vera M. (Martin) Gibson. On May 20, 1945 she married Robert E. Newman Jr. in Benton Harbor, MI. Grace was a full time homemaker who kept a busy schedule caring for her family. She was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Grace was a long time member of the Avion Travel Club for 25 years, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Stevensville #568 for 64 years. She belonged to The Friendship Club that met in Stevensville. She was also a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Joseph. Grace is survived by her sons Tim (Judy) Newman of St. Joseph, Jim (Virginia) Newman of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Tammy (Neal) Pedzinski of St. Joseph, Tim (Suzette)Newman of St. Joseph and Kayla Newman of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren Patrick, Curtis, Tyler Marie, and Daniel; and sister Marjorie Fillmore of Lisle, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Debi Weirick and Judy Ellinger and brothers Clifford Gibson and Paul Gibson Jr.
