Max Roach, 94, of St. Joseph, MI passed away, Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgeman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at First Church of God, 2627 Niles Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev. Robert Confer officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville at a later date. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Max was born November 8, 1918 in Enon, OH to David H. & Grace B. (Patton) Roach. Max served his country in the United States Army from 1944-1946. On May 24, 1940 he married Eileen Alberts in Springfield, OH. In the mid 1950’s, the family moved to El Paso, TX area to assist with a church planting project. Max was a Electrical Maintenance Supervisor for Southwest Portland Cement Company in El Paso, TX for 28 years and retired in 1984. In 2000 Max and Eileen moved to St. Joseph. He was a member of the First Church of God in St. Joseph and the Stevensville American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises and going out to eat.
Max is survived by his daughter; Joy (Don) Janke of Stevensville; three grandchildren-Diane Janke of Park Ridge, IL, Sharon (Brian) Carpenter of Edgewood, NM, Danny Roach of Dallas, TX; three great-grandchildren Nathan, Joshua, and Thomas of Edgewood, NM and several nieces. Max was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Roach, parents, daughter Sandra Jean Roach, son David Roach, brother Edwin Roach and sister Eloise Cooke.
