Fred Schulz, 92, of Benton Harbor, passed away Thursday December 27, 2012, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 7 P.M Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Ron Schmidt officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Fred Schulz was born May 27, 1920 in Potsdam, Germany, to Frederick & Anna (Hemmeman) Schulz. On January 27, 1945 Fred married his wife Ruth (Zerbe) in Benton Harbor. Fred worked and retired from Industrial Rubber in St. Joseph as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the D.A.N.K., and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Jack) Miller of Benton Harbor, MI; four grandchildren; Amy Schuring of Kalamazoo, MI; Robert (Heather) Schulz, of Mears, MI; John (Sheila) Miller of St. Joe; Steven(Margo) Miller of Eau Claire, MI; ten great grandchildren; Garrett Schuring Christopher Lents, Amber Lents, Cody Miller, Conner Miller, Wade Schulz, Brook Schulz, Reed Schulz, Lila Miller, Dustin Miller; two great-great-grandchildren Lucas Lents, Jason White, and his extended family, Blair Biglow, and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth in 1981, his son, Walter “Butch” Schulz in 2008, his granddaughter Mary Ann Lents in 1992, his two sisters, Edith Quint, Adeline Fredericks, his two brothers, Hebert Schulz, William Schulz, and his loving friend and companion Arlene Biglow in 2009.
