Jane Dine

Jane A. Dine, 87, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday January 9, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Mass Christian Burial will be held 10 A.M. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Father James Morris officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 P.M with a prayer service to follow at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Those wishing to sign Jane’s Memory Book online, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jane was born August 18, 1925, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Herbert C. & Nellie I. (Keigley) Knapp. She attended and graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School in Benton Harbor. On January 25, 1947, she married her husband Wayne R. Dine in Benton Harbor. Jane was an artist who made several paintings throughout her life. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and bowling together. Later in life, Jane enjoyed watching tennis, and crossword puzzles; and was known for being a “word master.” Jane will be remembered by her family as a wonderful mother with a great sense of humor. She is survived by her 7 children; Valorie J. (Joseph) Meimes of St. Joseph, MI; Wayne H. (René) Dine, of Berrien Springs, MI; Scott R. (Karen) Dine of Stevensville, MI; Mark S. (Marianne) Dine of St. Joseph, MI; Timothy A. Dine of Grand Rapids, MI; John A. Dine of St. Joseph, MI; and Keith A. (Sherry) Dine of Berrien Springs; 20 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Jane was preceded in death by her husband Wayne R. Dine in 2005, five siblings, Herbert Eugene Knapp, Walter Knapp, Eleanor Payovich, Wesley Knapp, and Dennis Knapp, and her parents.
