Wilbur Cary

Wilbur “Bill” Cary, 85, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in Berrien Center. Wilbur was born March 24, 1927 in Benton Harbor, MI to Wilbur & Lily (Smith) Cary. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1945. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. On April 26, 1952 he married Lorraine Britenfeld in Benton Harbor. Wilbur retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 32 years of service. Wilbur was a lifelong resident of Benton Harbor and was an avid fisherman and bowler. He was also a super fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Wilbur is survived by his son Larry (Violet) Cary; three grandchildren Jennifer Lyn (Matt) Avery, Michele Ann (Jayson) Murdock, and Christine Kay (Danny) Walser; eight great grandchildren Lydia, Marcus, Adam, Anna Avery, Mackenzie Dietz, Madison Murdock, and Ariel & Megan Ryan; two sisters Corinne King and Lorinne Urch. A private burial will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
