Myrtle Carolyn (Gruenberg) Kaeding Shramek, 94, of St. Joseph, went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2013 at The Willows in St. Joseph, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. Joseph First United Methodist Church, 2950 Lakeview Ave., St. Joseph with Pastor Harris Hoekwater officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Three Oaks, MI. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph First United Methodist Church. Those wishing to share a memory of Myrtle online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Myrtle (Myrt) was born in Michigan City, Indiana on November 5, 1918 to Roy and Estelle (Beyl) Gruenberg. After her father’s death, the family moved to Flanagan, Illinois. Upon graduation from high school, the family moved back to Michigan City. She was active in the Methodist Church in Michigan City where she met and married Art Kaeding in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1967. Art taught square dancing and Myrt was a big part of it. She made her own square dance dresses. Myrt spent 25 years as the executive secretary for many presidents at Heath Company. Myrt retired from Heath Company in 1979 with the title of Executive Assistant. She was a member of the St. Joseph First United Methodist Church for many years. In 1976, she married Ladd Shramek and joined the First Baptist Church of St. Joseph, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1999. After Ladd’s death, she rejoined the St. Joseph First United Methodist Church. Myrtle is survived by her son Randy (Annie) Kaeding, two granddaughters, April (Ron) Moschioni of Florida and Tammy Foondle of Benton Harbor, 5 great-grandkids, Alan Hager (U.S. Army), Jennifer Hager and Andrew Hager, Janet Kaeding of Stevensville, and Steven Carl Foondle, Jr. of Chandler, Arizona, many nieces and nephews, step-daughter Cheryl (Ken) Mooney of Pennsylvania, step-sons Gerry (Jan) Shramek of Alaska and Terry Shramek of California. Her 2 husbands, parents, and brothers Henry and Roy Gruenberg preceded Myrt in death.
