Margaret's Obituary

Margaret Belter, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Doctor’s Neuro Hospital in Bremen, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Friends may call from 10:30 until 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Humane Society of SW Michigan. Those wishing to sign Margaret’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Margaret was born October 19, 1919 in Covert, Michigan to Adolph & Marie (Sievert) Belter. She attended Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1937. Margaret was employed for thirty-five years at Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Niles, retiring as Supervisor in 1975. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling and tending to her flower garden at her home. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her nieces & nephews. Margaret is survived by her brother Harvey (Emma) Belter of Benton Harbor; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers-Edward, Ernest & Roland Andres, Welton Belter; her sister Jo Myers; and her canine companions-Muffy & Joey.
