Dolores M. Gallert, 80, of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, surrounded by her family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3713 Naomi Rd., in Sodus with Pastor Robert Duehlmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 16, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sodus or Michigan Lutheran High School. Those wishing to share a memory of Dolores online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Dolores was born March 24, 1932 in St. Joseph, Michigan, to Lyford & Madge (Cottrell) Fulks. She graduated from Coloma High School in 1950. On January 6, 1951, she married Bernard “Ben” Gallert at St. Matthew’s Church in Benton Harbor, MI. Dolores worked as an office manager for Leisure Lawn, as well as her other various jobs. She was a former President of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary 568 in Stevensville. Dolores enjoyed antiquing, rummaging, reading and crocheting. She was known as Mimi to her grandchildren, who were a very special part of her life.
Dolores is survived by her husband Bernard “Ben” Gallert of Benton Harbor; son Bernard (Darlene) Gallert Jr. of Benton Harbor; daughters Amy (Matthew) Schlichter of Stevensville, Annette (Clifford) Eubanks of Eau Claire, Alisa (Dana) Beilman of Stevensville; eleven grandchildren Sarena, Rebecca, Heather, Joshua, Jason, Hillary, Holly, Benjamin, Rory, Ava, and Gavin; seven great grandchildren; brother Fred (Rose) Schultz of California, two sister-in-laws Esther Schultz of Benton Harbor, and Irma DeLong Benton Harbor and her loyal dog Chiquita. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Anita Gallert, and her brother Herman Schultz.
