Doris E. Marske, 86, of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, December 03, 2012 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:30 A.M. Friday December 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George St., Berrien Springs, with Rev. Mel Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale. Friends may call Thursday December 6, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Berrien Springs, Hospice at Home, or the Michigan Parkinson Association. Doris was born July 4, 1926 in St. Joseph to Charles & Emma (Kading) Kettelhut. She graduated from Stevensville High School in 1943 and on September 16, 1945, married Raymond Marske in Stevensville. After raising her family, Doris was employed for twenty years as produce manager at Schneck’s Supermarket in St. Joseph, and from 1980 until 1992 as office manager for Raymond Marske Insurance Agency in Berrien Springs. Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Spring where she was active in the Ladies Aide and Bible Study. She was a member of The Dashing Dozen ladies group for fifty years, a member of the Plangger’s Furniture Bowling Team at Blossom Lanes for many years, and a 4-H leader for twenty years-receiving the Outstanding Leader of the Year award in 1975. Doris enjoyed tending to her rose gardens and teaching her grandchildren what she knew about roses to help them with their floral entries at the Berrien County Youth Fair. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating and cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her husband Ray; her children-Kathleen Marske of St. Joseph, William (Sandi) Marske of Three Oaks, Melodie Marske of Ann Arbor; her daughter-in-law Cindy Marske of St. Joseph; six grandchildren-Kimberley (Greg) Glaske, Melissa (Troy) Marske, Jackie (Rob) Satek, Jamy (Kristy) Marske, Jill (Kurt) Etherington, and Adam (Bettina) Zabel; seven great-grandchildren-Andrew, Lilly, Rebekah, Emily, Elijah, Emmeline, & Landen; and by numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son David Marske in 1992, & her siblings-Hattie Graham, Irving Kettlehut, Lawrence Kettelhut & Karl Kettelhut.
