Marion Inez Hughes

Marion Inez (Zick) Hughes, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away November 23, 2012 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Reverend Dr. Robert Braman officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit Monday, November 26, 2012 from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory of Marion may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. Marion was born March 27, 1920 in St. Joseph, MI to Martin and Maude (DeMorrow) Kasischke. Marion worked as a Food Service Manager for Dow Chemical Co. where she met and married Russell Zick of Bridgman, MI. He preceded her in death in 1958. She later married Kent Hughes of St. Joseph, MI and he preceded her in death in 1986. Marion was past President of Blossomland United Way and the Woman’s Service League, as well as an active member of the First Congregational Church. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing, tennis, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marion is survived by her son, Russell (Autumn) Zick of St. Joseph; daughter Karen Zick of Fremont, MI; 4 grandchildren Andrea Zick, Kim Hopkins, Kris Yeske and Erica Zick; 3 great-grandchildren Brayden Wright, Jace and Zane Hopkins; brother Martin Kasischke of AZ,; sister Georgia Northway of Saginaw, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands and daughter Randall Yeske.
