Ethel M. Moss

Ethel M. Moss, 89, of Niles, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in Berrien Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Kendall Holder officiating. A private burial will be held at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan. Those wishing to share a memory of Ethel online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Ethel was born January 5, 1923 in Benton Harbor, MI, to William & Edith (Williams) Gardner Sr. Ethel married Maurice Lucker Jr., and he preceded her in death in 1962. She married James Moss, and he preceded her in death in 1980. Ethel was a full time homemaker who kept a busy schedule caring for her family. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, birds and spending time with her family. Ethel is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Roger) Young of Niles, MI; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters Margaret Schmidt of Coloma, MI, and Joyce Gardner of St. Joseph; brothers William (Wilma) Gardner Jr., of Stevensville, MI, and James (Joyce) Gardner of South Carolina. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Maurice Lucker Jr. and James Moss, and brother George Gardner.
