Helen L. Murphy

Helen L. Murphy, 87, of Stevensville, MI, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at her residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 12, 2012 at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Dr., St. Joseph, with Pastor Jack Whitehead officiating. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory of Helen may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com Helen was born June 30, 1925 in Dawes, West Virginia, to Chandie Rexford and Lydia Abigail (Epperley) Breedlove. She worked as a secretary for Appalachian Power. On May 7, 1945, she married Charles Murphy in Orange, Texas. Helen loved to cook and sew as well as spend time with her grandchildren. She was a devout prayer warrior and a former leader in the Bible Study Fellowship in St. Joseph. Helen was known for her smile and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Helen is survived by her loving husband, Charles “Kayo” Murphy of Stevensville; her sons, Richard (Jill) Murphy of St. Joseph, Mark (Debbie) Murphy of Stevensville; five grandchildren, Jason (Bethany) Murphy, Chicago, IL, Sean Murphy, Eau Claire, Kate (Cory) Bartz, Baroda, Daniel (Lauren) Murphy, Stevensville and Kimberly Murphy, St. Joseph; as well as one great-grandchild, Caleb Murphy. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ralph Dale Breedlove.
