Edna's Obituary

God sent His Holy Angels to bring Edna H. Pagel, 94, of St. Joseph, home. She passed over on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph, with her family by her side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Thomas Batsky officiating. A private burial will be held Monday at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School. Those wishing to share a memory of Edna may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com Edna was born on September 26, 1918 in St. Joseph, MI to August and Lydia (Domes) Schadler. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1936. In November of 1938 she married William Pagel in St. Joseph, MI. Edna was a homemaker and also worked as a bookkeeper for many years. Edna is survived by her daughter Susan (Jack) Barnes; sons William (Marcia) Pagel and John (Darla) Pagel all of St. Joseph; 9 grandchildren Tamara (David) Miller, Sheryl Pagel, Bill Pagel, Tom (Bonnie) Barnes, Sabra (Raul) Florez, Erin (Gary Murray) Powell, Clinton (Beth) Pagel, Matthew Pagel, and Jenna (Chris) Bell; 10 great grandchildren Allison, Emily, Jessica, Meagan, Kendra, Chloe, August, Aubrey, Siena, and Santiago; two sister-in-laws Margaret Schadler and Eleanor Pagel. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Pagel, brothers Harold Schadler, Marvin “Red” Schadler, Edward “Pinky” Schadler, George Schadler and Jim Schadler; and sister Dorothy Ehrenberg.
