Marjorie L. Jaffke

Marjorie L. Jaffke, 91, of Benton Harbor, passed away, on Tuesday October 9, 2012, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 P.M on Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph, with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Friends may call from 5 until 7 P.M, at the funeral home. Marge was born May 26, 1921 in St. Joseph to Raymond & Leona (Short) Garrison. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940. On June 3, 1947, she married Joseph Roemer in St. Joseph; he preceded her in death in 1969. On August 12, 1975, she married Harold “Red” Jaffke in St. Joseph; he preceded her in death in 1991. She was employed as a clerk with Spinks Corners Grocery Store from 1965 to 1986. Marge was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Marge is survived by her children, Lynn (Jackie) Roemer of Onaway, Mich.; Ronald (Sue) Roemer of Benton Harbor; and Susan Roemer of Benton Harbor; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two children, Michael Roemer, 1953 & Kathleen Kelly, 1942; sister Dorothy “Bonnie” Allen, 1966; and niece Barbara McKie.
