George's Obituary

George Edward Rosenthal II, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at Starks & Menchinger Chapel with Rev. B. Gordon Barry officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory of George on line may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. George was born on June 17, 1935 in Baroda to George and Audrey (Baldwin) Rosenthal. He graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1954 and served his country in the United States Army from January 1955 until December of 1962. While in the service he married the love of his life, Deborah Sutherland on December 26, 1959. After serving his country, he was employed for more than 30 years in die cast maintenance and service at Paramount Die Cast until their closing. He was then employed at Quality First Die Cast and eventually retired from Hoffmann Die Cast. He loved the outdoors from working in the yard to camping, fishing and hunting with the kids. George thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of his 9 grandchildren and was always there for them. While a big sports fan of the Chicago Cubs and U of M Football, the Detroit Lions were, by far, his favorite team. George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deborah; his children George (Carole) Rosenthal of Bridgman; Dianna Montgomery of South Haven, and Rick (Cynthia) Rosenthal of Stevensville; grandchildren Jacob and Trevor Rosenthal of Bridgman; Michael and Lauren Montgomery of South Haven; Brittany, Alyssa, Becca, Chelsea and Jami Rosenthal of Stevensville; sisters Maxine (Patrick) Walsh, of Benton Harbor; Janet (Edward) German of Stevensville; Linda (Bill) Fries Rosenthal of Fremont, MI; and brother Larry (Joy) Rosenthal of St. James, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John Rosenthal.
