Karen's Obituary
Karen Dixon, 72, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville with Pastors Phillip Quardokus & Martin Measel officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Evangelical Church. Those wishing to share a memory of Karen online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Karen was born to Victor & Eulalia (Deutscher) Radtke on June 10, 1940 in Royalton Township, Michigan at her grandparent’s home. Karen graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1958. On September 16, 1961 she married Bob Dixon in St. Joseph at Trinity Lutheran Church. Karen was a full time homemaker who kept a busy schedule caring for her husband, children and her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed horses, traveling, cooking, and boating. Karen was active in and faithfully attended Christ Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed their 1959 Oldsmobile convertible and attending cars shows with her husband, Bob and staying in touch with her high school friends.
Karen is survived by her husband Bob Dixon of St. Joseph; daughter Krista Dixon-Carter of St. Joseph; three sons Scott (Sara) Dixon of Allen, TX, Todd (Carin) Dixon of Marietta, GA and Kevin (Melinda) Dixon; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister Devona (Ralph) Dinges of Berrien Springs; and brother David Radtke of St. Joseph. Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
