Leona Y. White

Leona Y. White, 89, of St. Joseph died at Caretel Inns on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012. Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home of St. Joseph. Leona was born Dec. 15, 1922 in Custer, OK to Clyde and Evylyn (Gentry) Yount. She lived in Niles, MI for many years. Leona and her husband-Leonard, owned and operated White’s Lanes in Niles from 1957-2005. She was also a member, for 51 years, of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Most recently she attended services at the St. Joseph First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. Joseph First United Methodist Church for children’s programs. Leona is survived by her son, Arnie (Amy) White of St. Joseph; four grandchildren, Kelly, Alex, Lyndsay and Lucas; a sister, Clydene Grant of Manhattan Beach, CA; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents-Clyde and Evylyn; her husband-Leonard; a son-Lance; and several brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 10:00 AM, at the St. Joseph First United Methodist Church, 2950 Lakeview Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev.
