Dorothy “Granny” Livengood, 78, of Stevensville, passed away, Friday, September 28, 2012, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Kendall Holder officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may call from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Dorothy was born March 4, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Rudolph & Frieda (Bluschke) Borchert. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1952. On January 24, 1959, she married Dallas “Duffy” Livengood in Benton Harbor. Dorothy devoted her life to her family, raising her children, baking, cooking, cherishing her grand & great-grandchildren, and attending or listening to their sporting events on the radio. She was a member of the Stevensville American Legion Auxiliary Post #568 and the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center. Dorothy was a volunteer at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph for 15 years.
Dorothy is survived by her children-Jeffery (fiancée Jana Swett) Livengood of Stevensville, Susan Schipper of Grand Rapids, Jane (Ed) Miller of Stevensville; three grandchildren-Jeffery McDonald, Stephanie Miller & Matthew Miller; three great-grandchildren-Kaylee & Dominic McDonald, & Brayden Miller; and special friends Barb, Lorraine & Elizabeth, and many more. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Duffy.
