Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Bazan Bohm, 80, of Stevensville went with the Lord, Sunday, September 23, 2012 in St. Joseph, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 P.M Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph with Father James Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M, with the Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Betty was born November 28, 1931 in St. Joseph to Christian Michael & Elizabeth (Garlanger) Johnson. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1949. On September 2, 1950, she married Nicolas Bazan, and he preceded her in 1976. Betty was employed with Whirlpool Corporation, retiring in 1992, after 31 years. On September 18, 1993, she married Rudy Bohm and he preceded her in 1995. Betty was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She loved to travel. She enjoyed playing bingo and card games, especially gin rummy. She volunteered for many organizations. She sang for the Misfits group for several years. She loved to cook and made the best fudge ever. Her passion was writing and she wrote many poems. She cherished time spent with her numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. But above all, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were unquestionably the most important part of her life.
Betty is survived by seven children Theresa (Michael) Rondelli, Nicolas (Brenda) Bazan, Thomas (Paula) Bazan, Victoria (Larry) Lerke, Elizabeth (Myall) Hawkins, Joyce (Dale) DeLong, Mary (John) Spear; ten grandchildren, Catherine (Robert Bell) Rondelli, Nicolas Bazan, Rachel Bazan, Walker Hawkins, Greer Hawkins, Nicolas DeLong, Kymberly (Armando) Hernandez, Sabrina (Michael) Poskey, Sarah Spear, John (Ashley) Spear; and four great-grandchildren, Johannah, Aaron, Emma Hernandez, Elise Bazan; her two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Johnson, sister Dolores (William) Frantz. She is preceded in death by Nicolas Bazan, Rudy Bohm, her parents, her brothers, Allen, Robert, Joseph, William, Charles, Leo, her sisters Ruth and Alice; her grandchildren, Dale and Nicole DeLong.
