Wanda's Obituary
Wanda L. Hartman, 74, of Benton Harbor, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 09, 2012 from Caretel Inns in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev. Franz Brandenburg officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Wanda was born February 9, 1938 in Shiner, Texas to Herman & Natalie (Fisseler) Barre. She graduated from Shiner High School, where she played saxophone in the band, In 1956 She met Harold Hartman on a blind date and they were married October 24, 1958 in Shiner, TX. She enjoyed a wonderful life raising her family while Harold finished his career in the Air Force. She was able to visit Toyko, Hong Kong and several US cities before retiring here to her home in Benton Harbor. Wanda was employed around ten years at Majereck’s Hallmark, working as manager. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she participated in many activities and absolutely loved her family there. In her free time, Wanda enjoyed golfing, quilting, cruises, the time spent with her family and friends.
Wanda is survived by her children-Donna (Glenn) Kruithof of Palm Coast, FL, Dean (Susan) Hartman of Benton Harbor; six grandchildren-Brian (Sammantha) Jaggers, Sarah Jaggers, Gregory Anderson, Andrew, Emily & Stephanie Kruithof; two great-grandchildren-A.J. & Calleigh Jaggers; her sister Glynda (Randy) Mazer of Birmingham, AL; and several well loved nieces & nephews from both sides of her and Harolds’ family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Arlen Barre in 1966, her husband Harold on June 13, 2002, and her daughter Deborah Ann Jaggers on May 13, 2008.
