Virginia's Obituary
Virginia L. Ross Herrman 88, of St. Joseph, MI went to heaven on August 14, 2012. She was born January 26, 1924 in Indianapolis; IN to Richard M & Elizabeth (McClain) Ross, Sr. Virginia graduated from Arsenal Technical Schools of Indianapolis, IN in 1943. She also attended Manchester College in Manchester, IN. On June 14, 1947 she married Lester E. Herrman Sr. of St. Joseph, MI and they had a wonderful life together. For a few years she played the violin in the St. Joseph Symphony. For 24 years she was the Director of Food Services for St. Joseph Public Schools. She attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI and was active in the Berrien County Extension Services. Virginia is survived by her two children: Lester (Marilyn) E. Herrman Jr. of St. Joseph, MI; and Barbara (John) L. Alice of Richardson, TX. She is also survived by three grandchildren: John Michael (Danielle) Alice of Fort Worth, TX; David (Shawna) Alice of Quinlan, TX; and Kyle Herrman of New York, NY; and great-granddaughter Isabella Alice, Quinlan, TX. She is also survived by two step-grandsons: Ben (Nicole) Rimes of St. Joseph, MI; and Jon Rimes of Benton Harbor, MI; plus two step-great grandchildren Ella and Harrison Rimes of St. Joseph, Mi.; and her brother Richard M. Ross, Jr. of Florida. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Lester E. Herrman Sr., her daughter, Carol E. Herrman, and her sister Elizabeth Hardy. Per her wishes, Virginia was cremated. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Joseph First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct., St. Joseph with Rev. Harris Hoekwater officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers please send a memorial to St. Joseph First United Methodist Church.
