Rolland's Obituary

Rolland Gustave Yeske passed away at Woodland Terrace Assisted Living on September 2, 2012. Rolland was the son of Harry Herman and Olga (Mensinger) Yeske, and was born on February 14, 1922. Rolland attended St. Joseph High School and was married to Dora Farmer in 1941. He enlisted in the Navy and served his country in the Pacific Theater during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Manilla Bay. Following his Honorable Discharge from the US Navy, he worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 30 years, retiring as a foreman in shipping and receiving. Upon retirement from Whirlpool, he pursued his interest in fishing and part time electrical work and television tower installations. Rolland was a collector and dealer in fishing equipment and tools for many years and he and his wife Dora actively sought out bargains at auctions and sales for resale at the flea market in Lawence, Michigan. Rolland was also a life-long Cubs fan and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. He is survived by his daughter Patricia (James) Albright of St. Joseph, son Rolland C. Yeske of Benton Harbor and daughter Lu Ann Selby of Mount Juliet, TN. In addition to his son and daughters, Rolland was loved by his grandchildren Grace (Tom) Dykstra, Laura (Steve) Jaeger, Catherine (John) Glassman Jr., Scott (Kerrie) Albright, Adam (Becky) Callender, Philip (Reegan) Albright, Saundra (Brian) Etchison, Kimberly (Justin) Hopkins, Kristine (Brad Wright) Yeske, Shelby Williams and Dawn Williams. Rolland also has 17 Great grandchildren and 7 Great-great grandchildren. His dedication to family and his lively personality will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dora and his brother Harry Yeske. Also, son in law Michael (Patricia) Callender, Lonnie (Lu Ann) Selby, daughter in law Randy (Rolland C.) Yeske, grand daughter Ellen Ireland, grandson Kenneth Williams and great grand daughter Tricia Dykstra. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St., St. Joseph with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
