Agnes M. Schmidt

On Friday, August 24, 2012 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center, another Angel, Agnes M. Schmidt, was called home to Heaven to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10A.M. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market St., St. Joseph, with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Agnes was born June 5, 1922 in St. Joseph to Albert & Martha (Klug) Berk. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940, and on June 25, 1941, married Arthur Schmidt in St. Joseph. Agnes was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, tending to her vegetable garden, and keeping busy around the house. Agnes is survived by her children-Judy (Joseph) Kramer of St. Joseph, Arthur (Judy) Schmidt, Jr., of St. Joseph, Dennis (Debbie) Schmidt of Kentwood, MI; seven grandchildren-Deanna (Jon) Damm, Denise (Matt) Kitsch, Jodie (Rob) Broadwater, Joe Kramer, & Donna, Kimberly, & Brian Schmidt; four great-grandchildren-Joshua Kitsch, Jaxson Damm, & Nolan & Mallory Broadwater; and her brother Charles Berk of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, Sr., on July 31, 2007, her sister Mildred Kettlehut, and two brothers Louis & Harold Berk.
