Marilyn's Obituary

Marilyn Charlotte Burns, 81, of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A private entombment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Marilyn was born October 2, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward & Charlotte (Mroz) Shell. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1948, attended Kalamazoo College, and was awarded a Bachelor of English degree from Michigan State University. On January 20, 1953 she married Roger Nolan Burns. Marilyn worked for Emlong’s Nursery as a florist for many years. In her spare time she loved to garden and knit. Marilyn is survived by her son Gary (Michelle) Burns; grandsons Steven and Christopher Burns; brother Wayne (Karon) Shell; nephews Jeffrey (Shelley) Shell and Greg (Ann) Shell.
