Jeanne Elizabeth Dannison
Jeanne Elizabeth Dannison, 30, of Kalamazoo, died unexpectedly on July 25, 2012.
Jeanne was born on April 12, 1982, in Berrien Center, to David and Janice (Schimnoski) Dannison. She was a 2000 graduate of Lakeshore High School. Jeanne attended Michigan State University and graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Following graduation she was a staff member at the University of Chicago Orthogenic School. Jeanne was very talented musically and artistically, and was a very creative person. She played the flute and loved singing. During high school, Jeanne was a member of the Monday Musical Club, and was a recipient of scholarships to Blue Lake and Interlochen Fine Arts Camps. She took numerous art classes at Southwestern Michigan College. Jeanne loved nature and animals, especially cats. An avid reader, she was always interested in learning. Jeanne had recently decided to attend graduate school to pursue a master’s degree in social work to become a therapist. She was a compassionate and caring person who wanted to help others. Her ability to build strong friendships with many people gave her the blessing of many friendships. Jeanne truly touched many lives. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Jeanne is survived by her mother and stepfather, Jan and Mark Johnson of St. Joseph; stepsisters and brother, Laura, Chrissie, and Brian Johnson; her grandfather, Donald Schimnoski MD of Three Rivers; her aunt and uncle, Jeanne and Michael Contreras of Long Beach, California; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Dannison, brother, John Dannison, uncle, Rusty Dannison, great aunt, Verna Schimnoski, grandmother, Gloria Schimnoski, grandparents, Lorraine and Cliff Klapp, grandfather, Charles Dannison, and cousin, Ross Dannison.
A private memorial service celebrating her life will be held Friday, August 17, at the Stevensville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gordon Barry officiating. Friends are invited to sign the guestbook at www.starksfamilyfh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monday Musical Student Club for educational programs, Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan and the Stevensville United Methodist Church.
