Minta G. Arney

Minta G. (Brandt) Arney, 91, of Benton Harbor, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph Friday, June 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dan Smith of Zion Evangelical Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Marie Yeager Cancer Center of St. Joseph. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Alexender & Associates firm for many years. Her greatest joys came from being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Minta loved to be in the garden whenever she could and took great joy in all flowers, she loved to bake especially during the holidays and had a soft spot for dogs. Minta is survived by her son Donald (Kathleen) Dettman of Benton Harbor, daughter Darlene (Russell) Adler of St. Joseph, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Minta was preceded in death by her father, Barney Brandt and mother Elsie, daughter Diane Sprague Dettman and brother Barney (Bud) Brandt.
