Amy Louise Hicks-Sliter

Amy Louise Hicks-Sliter, 90, of Benton Harbor, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 Friday, August 3, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Doug Hoyh officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday August 2, 2012 at the funeral home. Amy was born August 15, 1921 in Hickman, KY to Felix & Ida (Hickman) Keith. On September 6, 1931 she married Roy Hicks in Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1978. Then on October 6, 1979 she married McKinley Sliter in Benton Harbor. Amy and her first husband Roy owned and operated R & L Upholstery in Benton Harbor for 42 years. Amy was a member of The First Assembly of God. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Amy is survived by her husband McKinley Sliter of Benton Harbor; son Ken (Debra) Hicks of Atlanta, GA; daughters Linda (Thomas) Reidsma of Atlanta, GA and Brenda (Joseph) Miller-Schalon of Benton Harbor, MI; step-daughter Trina Sliter of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; Amy was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Roy Hicks, son James “Sandy” Hicks, brother A.D. Keith and sister Thelma Spiewak.
