Lloyd's Obituary

Lloyd H. Dalager, 98, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Russell K. Logston officiating. Private burial will follow at Crystal Springs Memorial Park in Benton Harbor. Friends may call from 10:30 until 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan or the donor’s choice. Those wishing to sign Lloyd’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Lloyd was born September 14, 1913 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Hans & Louise (Fingerson) Dalager. The family moved to Benton Harbor on September 21, 1918 and settled at the House of David Colony. Lloyd was the Chief Electrician at the House of David and currently served as President. He was the last living member of the traveling baseball team, and as a youth operated the midget cars with his father, and served as an engineer on the miniature train. Lloyd enjoyed animals, he always had a dog. Lloyd is survived by his niece Louise (John) King of Sodus; great-nieces-Marlene (Kevin) Burbach & Cherie (Kevin) Groenke; great-great nieces & nephews-Nicole King, Michelle King, Ariel Corwin, Jacob Burbach Tyler Burbach, Nathane Corwin; and special caregivers-Brian Ziebart & Don & Jackie Schultz. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-Agnes “Aggie” Wade & Violet “Vi” Staubach, and a great-nephew Bret King.
