Alice's Obituary

Alice C. (Frazee) Schreiber, 94, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 at The Willows in St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Watervliet. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with the Rosary recited at 7:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to Donate for Life or to the family for the benefit of The Willows for a special project. Those wishing to sign Alice’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Alice was born February 22, 1918 in St. Joseph to Christian & Elizabeth (Garlanger) Johnson. She married Patrick Frazee on July 4, 1936 and he preceded her in 1979. Alice married Edward “Pat” Schreiber on June 23, 1984 and he preceded her in 2001. Alice began her retail career at Shopper’s Fair in 1962 and was employed at K-Mart in Benton Harbor for twenty-plus years as the manager of the toy department. She later worked at Family Dollar in Coloma and Big Lots in Benton Harbor. Alice donated her time for Donate for Life, because of being a cornea transplant recipient at age 70, and at Lakeland Hospital until 2010. She was a former member of St. Joseph Parish in Watervliet, and currently in St. Joseph, helping with Bingo for both, a member of Coloma American Legion Auxiliary #362, and the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center. In her free time, Alice enjoyed traveling the world, fishing, dancing, playing Rummy and dominoes at the Willows, an “occasional” trip to the casino, and attending her grandchildren’s event. Above all, she cherished time spent with family and friends. Alice is survived by her children-Carl (Linda) Frazee of Benton Harbor, Patricia DePriest of Benton Harbor, James (Ann) Frazee of Portage, MI, Shirley Lundquist of St. Joseph, Michael Frazee of Saginaw, TX, Mark (Julie) Frazee of St. Joseph, Dennis Frazee of Aurora, IL; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; siblings-Kenneth Johnson of St. Joseph, Mary “Betty” Bohm of Stevensville, Dolores (Bill) Frantz & Richard “Dick” Johnson, both of St. Joseph; numerous nieces & nephews; and close friend Betty Mihlhauser of Watervliet. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons-Ronnie Frazee in 1940, Richard Frazee in 1941, and siblings-Leo, Charles, Bob, Bill, Ruth & Joe Johnson.
