Craig's Obituary

Craig A. Hoffman, 60, of Stevensville, passed away, Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev. Franz Brandenburg officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, and from 10:00 until 11:00 Friday at the Church. Craig was born April 16, 1952 in Benton Harbor to Gene A. & Shirley M. (Kuntz) Hoffman. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1970, and in the fall joined the US Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. In July 1975, he married the former Sally Runge in St. Joseph. Craig joined the family business-St. Joseph Mini-Mart in 1970, which he eventually owned and operated for many years. Most recently he was employed as assistant manager at Walgreens. Both jobs were well suited for him, as Craig was a people person. He never met a stranger. Craig enjoyed visiting with his many customers, making friends too numerous to mention. His best friend was his wife Sally, he cherished the time spent with her, and also with the children & grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew & loved him. Craig is survived by his wife Sally; his daughter Stacy (Ryan) Yeske of Stevensville; his son Chad (Lindsey) Hoffman of St. Joseph; four grandchildren-Austin, Alisyn & Ashton Hoffman, and Adin Yeske; and his parents Gene & Shirley Hoffman of Bradenton, FL & Stevensville, MI.
