Irving's Obituary
Irv was born June 4, 1936 and died July 12, 2012.
He was born into a coal-miners family in Alabama. Irv served his country as a physician’s assistant in Hawaii and in Korea under the 25th medical Battalion. He was in the coast guard later.
Irv became a Michigan Farmer, was a full fledged Fireman and in his last 30 plus years he worked at Bendix/Bosch. During the Bosch years he won a slogan contest that was entered by all the states Bendix Corporation was in. The contest was dealing with seat belts in cars. He entered “For your protection make the connection.” Irv received the reward in Detroit at the Bendix Headquarters.
His education was limited to a high school equivalence. But his intellect went way beyond that there was not a word he couldn’t spell or history of the country he didn’t have knowledge of. Irv was rich in intelligence.
His favorite things were eating Blue Gills, playing cards, computer games, and reading anything he could get his hands on. News was all important to him. But the highlight of his life was his son Scott, anyone that knew Irv knew that.
He and his wife Sandra were married in Sodus at the Chapel Hill Church December 30th 1961. They were married 50 years in 2011. Their many trips by car, boat and train with friends were very happy moments.
When Irv would go back to Alabama for a vacation, people would ask him “when are you coming home” and his answer would be “I am home.”
Living at Spinks Corners on Napier Avenue always delighted him.
Irv entered the hospital July 7th with a sudden ailment, during the night he accepted Jesus as his Savior, with his wife and his son at his side, holding his hands. The next day he was incoherent, the next day he was unconscious to the end. DON’T WAIT to receive your Salvation from Jesus, you might not get the chance that Irv got.
There will be a private burial at Crystal Springs Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bennie and Lonie Beavers; and four brothers Carvin, James, Aubry, and Donald.
Irv is survived by his wife Sandra; son Scott; brother-in-law Jack Vance; sister Geneva; sister-in-law Dian; many nieces and nephews; and all the friends that he and his wife shared trips with, dined out frequently with, and played cards with.
He sure enjoyed the “Hairladies and guys,” his “daughters” and buddies from Bosch.
Irv never gave Sandie flowers from a florist, but she would get wild flowers unexpectedly. Any time he saw one in the yard or on a trip, etc. I’ll miss them. So Irv here is your bouquet of wild flowers penned in these words of your life. You are truly, truly missed already.
As the family, we want to thank everyone who made Irv part of their life. He was blessed! We love you Irv, your wife Sandie and son Scott. Memorials may be made to Gideons International. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com
