Irene's Obituary

Irene Doris Caroselli, 63, of Stevensville, MI, passed away on May 31, 2012, in her sleep at Caretel Inn’s of Lakeland. She fought hard to live after finding out about her cancer and did so as long as her body would let her. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3903 Lake St., Bridgman on Saturday, June 9 at 10:00 AM officiated by Father Arthur Howard. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be given to Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Irene was born on March 13, 1949, to Raymond & Virginia (Kitley) Anders in Bellevue, MI. Irene was a busy farm girl who was taught how to work at a young age. She worked so hard on the farm and in school being the valedictorian, she received a 4-H scholarship, and went to college. While at Northern Michigan University, she graduated in nursing and met Louis Caroselli. On October 12, 1974, she married Louis at Our Lady of the Great Oak Catholic Church in Delton Michigan. After college they moved to southwest Michigan where they both worked. She worked at Berrien County Health Department as Communicable Diseases Coordinator and the public health team leader for over 25 years. She really loved helping people. Irene was avidly involved with her daughter’s life by coaching soccer and softball, cheering in the stands rain or shine, and was also a 4-H leader. Some of her hobbies included flowering, gardening, (fast) walking, and working with puzzles. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter around Arizona where they would hike, camp, swim, and climb mountains. Irene also taught CCD at Our Lady of Peace for years. She is survived by her daughter Andrea Caroselli of Kingman, AZ and a brother Roger Anders of Pleasant Prairie, WI. She is also survived by 2 nephews and a niece. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis in 1995, a son Andrew in 1978, her mother Virginia 1984, and father Raymond 2008.
