Gerald Lange

Gerald “Jerry” H. Lange, 78, of Stevensville, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. A private family service celebrating his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeland Hospice at Home or to Hope Lodge, 411 Second Street, NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Those wishing to send the family a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jerry was born on May 6, 1934, in Lincoln Township, MI, to Edward and Anita (Knuth) Lange. What he loved to talk about most was the fact that he was married to the love of his life, Dee Ann Loeffler Lange for 57 years and that his daughter, Becky, was born on his birthday. Jerry retired as a printer after 38 years at the Herald-Palladium. After retirement he worked for Lakeshore Public Schools and enjoyed being surrounded by the children. Above all of the things that were important to him in his life, he loved spending time with his family the most. Also, he enjoyed world travel, gardening, golfing, and animals, especially his best friend, Tomah. Another proud Sand Rabbit was known by everyone as a good man. He is survived by his wife Dee Ann; daughters Rebecah Martin, St. Joseph, and Deborah Lange, Paw Paw, MI; grandchildren Lindsay Martin, Whitney (Ben) Schueneman, Joseph Martin, Eric Johnson, and Karen Johnson; great-grandchildren Connor and Gavyn; brothers William (Janice) Lange, St. Joseph, David (Patty) Lange, Benton Harbor; and sister-in-law Margie Lange, Berrien Springs. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother Robert Lange.
