Genevieve's Obituary
Genevieve “Genny” F. Corwin, 97, of Stevensville, went to be with her Lord on May 22, 2012 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph.
Genny was born February 2, 1915 in Benton Harbor, MI, the daughter of Grover & Lida (Watson) Lawrence. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1934. On September 3, 1936, she married Max W. Corwin in LaGrange, Indiana. Max preceded her in death on August 30, 1980.
In the early 1960’s she and Max purchased Grau’s Supermarket in Stevensville. She was a member of the Benton Harbor Lioness Club, a long time and active member of the Stevensville United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees, the Stevensville Methodist Sharing Group, and the Lincoln Township Friendship Club. She was a wonderful homemaker and liked to sew, cook, bake and spend time with her family and friends.
Genny is survived by her daughters Judy (Jim) Priebe of St. Joseph and Jan (Ed) Schadler of Berrien Springs; four grandchildren Tammy (Tim) Pallett of Bridgman, Nancy (Howard) Hunter of Petersburg, MI, Scott (Michelle) Schadler of Ankeny, IA, and Steve Priebe of Miami Beach, FL; six great grandchildren Logan, Lauren and Travis Hunter, Cassie Pallett, Analiese and Jared Schadler. She also leaves her friends and the dedicated staff at Lakeland Continuing Care Center who have lovingly cared for her these past 5 1/2 years. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents Grover & Lida Lawrence, husband Max and a sister Inez Baker. Genny was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd., Stevensville with Pastor Gordon Barry officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph or at the church Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Stevensville United Methodist Church or the Berrien County Cancer Service.
