Bertha's Obituary
Bertha “Bert” Stuber, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012, at her home. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Fairplain Presbyterian Church, 210 W. Napier, Benton Harbor, with Rev. LaVerne Davenport officiating. Inurnment at the St. Joseph City Cemetery will follow at a later date. Friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Fairplain Presbyterian Church or to the American Diabetes Association. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Bert was born on October 30, 1936, in Blue Mound, IL, to Elmer and Jessie (Fowler) Holt. She married John “Jack” Stuber on December 19, 1958, in Bloomington, IL. Bert was very active in her church. She was a 16 year Hospice volunteer and a treasurer of Community Concerts. She enjoyed gardening and attending all of her family’s sporting events. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her church family.
She is survived by her husband Jack; two sons John Mark Stuber, Millburg, MI, and Mike (Dina) Stuber, Troy, MI; three grandchildren Ryan, Kelsie, and Renee Stuber, of Troy; brother Merle (Marilyn) Holt, Cisne, IL; sisters Cam Hunt, Jenison, MI; Elizabeth (Edwin) Nelson, Rockford, IL, and Georgia (Brad Johnson) Blough, Stevensville, MI.
In addition to her parents, Bert was preceded in death by two sisters, Amy Sheets and Jessie Vanqulash.
