Bernie's Obituary
Bernie F. Pauley, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Corey Kugle officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery St. Joseph with military rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Bernie was born January 12, 1922 in Turtle Creek, W. Virginia to John A. & Allie (Gillenwater) Pauley. He graduated from high school, and on June 21, 1943 he married the former Louise D. Pruden. Bernie served his country during WWII in the US Army, stationed in the Philippines. He was employed by CXS Railroad as a freight agent, retiring in 1983 after forty-two years. Bernie enjoyed golfing, watching movies, and most of all spending, time with his grandson and attending his sporting events.
Bernie is survived by his son Dale (Jody) Pauley of Benton Harbor; his grandson Caleb John Pauley of Benton Harbor; two sisters-Frances Barr of Cincinnati, OH, Avonelle Hathaway of Huntington, W. Virginia; several nieces & nephews; and good friends & neighbors Cary & Carole Marsh of St. Joseph. He was preceded in death by his wife Louise on February 20, 1990, two brothers-General Pauley & John A. Pauley, Jr., and a sister Inez Bowels.
