Patricia Jane McDowell

Patricia Jane McDowell, 88, of St. Joseph, MI, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Seminole Pavilion Rehab. & Nursing Services in Seminole, FL. Patricia was born on June 24, 1923 in Auburn, Indiana to George and Bermadetta (Johnston) McDowell. She served her country during World War II in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) in the U.S. Navy. She was a graduate of Indiana University and retired from Creative Advertising in St. Joseph, as a copy writer director. Patricia is survived by her niece, Shannon (Steve) McDowell Bailey of Seminole, FL, two great nephews, Jared and Adam Bailey and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, David McDowell, and a nephew, Kevin McDowell. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, officiated by Scott Labbe, with a visitation held one hour prior to services at Starks-Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI. After cremation takes place, her ashes will be buried at Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett, IN. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Library.
