Betty Lou Quandt

Betty Lou Quandt, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Dr. Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Friends may call one hour prior beginning at 12:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Betty was born July 4, 1928 in St. Joseph to Otto & Amanda (Schrage) Quandt. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1946. Betty was employed at Whirlpool Corporation, retiring after forty-one years in 1990 as an executive secretary. She was a life-long member of Zion UCC and in her spare time enjoyed playing the piano, drawing, and especially the time spent with her family. Betty is survived by her nephew Gary (Pam) Quandt of Stevensville; two nieces-Kathy (Dale) Schrage of St. Joseph, Shari Kesterke of Berrien Springs; and great-nieces & nephews-Josh Quandt, Chad & Amanda Kesterke, Steven (Amy) Schrage, Jennifer (James) Steele, and Melissa Schrage. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother & sister-in-law Harold & Betty Quandt, both in 1999.
